A first impression suggests that “measure” can be considered as a sort of draw-bridge able to open up and close to keep in contact at least three fundamental functions of human life in society:
- self-knowledge, as the knowledge of one's own strengths and weaknesses (which in some ways corresponds to my beloved concept of “melancholia”);
- the knowledge of the socio-political ad cultural circumstances in which the acting subjects, with their own needs, are included (what I call “constitution”);
- the ability to intervene decisively on both these fields (my concept of “disciplining”)...
